I'm Not A Hoarder
I sold a few parts this weekend . I let go of some doors that had a lot of repairs but looked good . They may end up on a hot rod but at least they have a new life and did not end up scrap metal . It's hard for me to let go of parts even the ones I'll never use . But I need funds to buy more parts lol .

Hi Dennis,
Terrific! Every Model A Parts Catalog should include your above message, (as a quote from Dennis) on their front page. LOL |

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
I too have this affliction! Have come to realize I was a horder as a kid, going thru my mothers house I have come home with 6 van loads of stuff I have had since about 5, but the bulk of this is automotive related, with emphasis on model A stuff. Still have pickup load to go, like Dennis and others I occasionally let something go, but not too often.

It's not hoarding, it's inventory.

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
I think a lot of model A people have more than one model A and of course have lots of parts - usable and not so much. I don't know if it is a clinically defined affliction or not.
Dennis, I am glad you are posting again. Rusty Nelson |

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
Think I knew that guy (vinyl hoarder) years ago in SoCal. He was a DJ for a local rock station and his house was full of "played one time records", just like that, floor to ceiling. What an awesome 401K to cash in for a few (dozen) Model As. Just sayin'

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
Some label us, "HORRIBLE HOARDERS" when we have rare parts that we won't sell, 'cuz they know they can re-sell them fur a FAT PROFIT!!! I love to give away parts, when I know the receipient is using it on his own jalopy. My "REWARDS" for giving, come back to me in the oddest, most unusual ways, at times!! Bill W.

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
CURE FOR MODEL A FORD HOARDERS FOUND! According to a recent article in the New York Daily News (see “Hoarding to Receive New Clinical Definition by the Psychiatric Association ‘Bible’ “ by Christine Roberts, 12/9/12) the new 5th revision to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (“DSM-5”) will redefine “hoarding” and separate it from OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder).
It is estimated that some 4 to 15 million people in the US are hoarders, many of them Model A owners. Now, with the new definition that went into effect in May of 2013 with the publication of DSM-5, a Hoarding Disorder is defined as “persistent difficulty discarding or parting with possessions, regardless of their actual value.” Sound familiar? Herewith the cure: give away at least one Model A part. To help others who may suffer from Model A-related Hoarding Disorder, I will provide a list of needed Model A parts, along with the address to which they can be shipped (…er, “discarded”). Sorry, no COD discards. Btw, DSM-5 has also re-titled OCD. It is now “CDO” – the symptoms are the same but the letters are in the proper order…

I will inquire if medical coverage will cover the cost of treatment. (NOT for me, but in case I find a suffering HOARDER) Bill W.

Re: I'm Not A Hoarder
It's not really hoarding if you plan to use it someday.
