Assembly plant help decipher
I have tried to look up the assembly plant information of my Model A pickup, by the frame rail number it is a September 22 1930 engine build date. On the body cross member the number is either a "B" or an "8" located in the center of the cross member, and closer to the drivers right heel is the number 4522. It is a round speedometer closed cab pickup. The pickup was bought by the previous owner in the late 50's or early 60's in eastern South Dakota while he was in college. The painted letters on the hood were for a plumbing business. My dad transferred the title in July 1963 to his name. Any help is appreciated.

Gary WA thanks, I visited his web site this morning and did not come up with a definitive answer to my question. He has done extensive research that is for sure.

Re: Assembly plant help decipher
Gary WA - The truck is titled as a 1931, it is a closed cab (not a steel roof) and the narrow wood floor box like the earlier pickups. I think the reasoning behind the 1931 title year is that is when it was first sold.

Re: Assembly plant help decipher
Budd made both pieces and complete cabs depending on time frame. The solid top cabs were likely completed by Budd. They mere made very close to the end of production for the model A. Ford sold a lot of trucks and pickups but they were still in the limited category much the same as all the Fordors. Production slowed a lot in 1931 as the depression got worse.

Re: Assembly plant help decipher
Is it an indented or flat firewall cab? Sounds like a June or earlier truck.Firewall will narrow it down a little more.It could be a 30,titles are manmade pieces of paper that can say anything.

Re: Assembly plant help decipher
I have a 31 wide bed pickup. Does not have a steel roof or indented firewall, and it has an oval speedometer. Might be all correct or it could be a frankentruck.
