Yes that is a jet engine on that go-kart and in the 32 coupe. The Tucker that is coming off the trailer is #7 and in perfect shape. I thought something for the truck guys would be appropriate. That LeMay, sure knew how to collect things. Mike

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
1930ArtDeco-the first picture of the mail truck-was that truck from Minnesota. I think I saw that during a tour of a collection in southern MN. Guy was a Model A nut.

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
the mail truck is owned by Glorrian Nau and has been in the Seattle area for many years. I reworked all the sheet metal and repainted all the black on it five or six years ago.

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
You are welcome, I went to LeMay's auto collection and was taking pictures on my phone when I just gave out. I mean there had to be around 700 cars there and that was a 1/3 of his collection. I just could not click anymore.
Mike

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
Same here, it was so overwhelming I quit trying to take pictures of everything, just too much to see.

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
Thanks for the pictures guys! I was there but didn't get some of the shots you guys did. 7_0 you're quite the photographer -- great work!
For those of you that didn't get to go you missed out on a fun time. The photos you see really illustrate both the cars and the scenery we enjoyed. Robert |

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
One of the Docents mentioned there were 47 (you read correctly) 47 buildings around the area housing the collection that they draw from to change the selection of cars on display. Harold's collection was one of the best kept secrets around the NW. 20 years ago during the Joint Meet in Tacoma I encouraged people to go see it. The display was much less organized but still would blow you away. A friend from back East insisted he had already seen the largest private collection and it wasn't in WA. He did go and said he was in AWE plus I was right. He had no idea the collection existed.

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
Saw some old friends made some new ones and missed a few I wanted to meet, but it was quite an experience. I pushed my luck as far as humanly possible and even though I made it up and back in one piece, it is an adventure that I will never forget.
I could write a book about the crazy trip up and back but just a foot note,, I went through about 15 gallons of oil, and had to check and top off every 25 miles to keep the engine turning. That is a lot of stops for the 2000 miles that I put on the little car, but as always it brought me home without missing a beat!! Here is just a few of the many pictures that I took. |

Re: 2014 Nationals pictures
Ok folks, here is a head knocker, found something at Fred's Garage that no one can identify.
Take a look and see if anyone can tell me (and more than a few others) what the heck it is. |
