Default 1930 Two Door Phaeton

Just how rare are the 2 door Phaeton Model A's? I have only seen one other in my life. I just saw one on our favorite auction site along with two other body styles.

Only 3 of these were sold new here in NZ. One was still getting around after The War ,but a later search for it was fruitless. One may be now in US restored to LHD.
But there are still at least 3 here now , imported from Argentina which is also RHD.
I saw a rough one a few years ago & it had formidable wood framework, being a low volume Briggs built body.

Got one in my shop as I write, belongs to a fellow in Dade City Florida. I understand there is another one in the same area.

I went to the club picnic several years ago, and one drove in. I remarked to someone at how rare that car was. By the time everyone had arrived, there were 4 of them at a picnic of less than 50 cars. That is the most I have ever seen in one place.

Arguably the most beautiful A of all time?? I think so. Very rakish, looks better top up than top down. Very Gatsby like.

SHADETREE ....................
Close to our homes, in Elkview, W.Va., I once found a two door phaeton, out in the woods. It must have been anandoned thirty years before, as this was about 1965. The body man, who painted my roadster said that he wanted it. We took a trek and carried it out. It was so far gone, that to carry out the rear body section, we were able to FOLD the two sides over the rear section to make a carryable package. The doors were just as bad.
That fellow did make a whole car out of it. I don't know where it eventually went, or if it held together. It was RUFF !
