CL is an OK source for good stuff. What I find difficult is wading through the spelling and punctuation! Some of it is just short of painful to view.

I must be doing something wrong. I'm seaching for 1966 GTO tail lights on searchtempest and coming up with nothing useful.

I've had good results with CL, for the most part.
I agree with the lack of a phone number in the ad, and not following up with an e-mail.
I will say this though, it sure beats in the old days, all you had was a newspaper ad, no pics, and a limited area. Our world is getting smaller.

I find Craigslist a mixed bag. Great for buying not so hot for selling, but it's free and they arent getting up to %20 of the final sale like the "Other" guys so I take it for what it is.

I am one of those people who doens't put his phone number on the ad, but I am a person who will call you back if you respond with email with name and number, that way I know someone is real.

My latest inquiry to an ad I have was " Still available?" I clicked repsond to email and the return email is not the from email, not even close, two different names.

That's the type of inquiry that doesnt get a response.

All this talk about CL got me on my local CL for Modesto, CA. I put in "Model A Ford" and listings in nearby locations show a pretty nice '30 CCPU in Grass Valley, CA, (near Sacramento) for $6500,; it looks complete, it's running and registered. The seller states he is willing to keep the chassis if a rodder wants just the body. This appears to be another car worth saving. Someone please call this guy before I do something I shouldn't...

lots of the scammers responses ask "is the item still available".
I screen most of them out by emailing "which item are you inquiring about?"

It's better to not respond, they also collect email addresses to spam and when you reply they get your real email address not the hidden code on the C/L ad. Same reason to not post a phone number in an ad, your number gets sold to phone solicitors.
