In some odd way, I like it! Would be the only one everywhere you go! Nice delivery
truck for some small business. Eight more days until our "virgin" '31 coupe gets here, or I'd be tempted to play with this one.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
there is a picture of an AA delivery in brattons catalogthat has a very similar body, it appears the one on ebay had the exreme rear removed from the body, but i too think it would be neat...

Steve- Just checked out your pics. A little cleaning helps you define what you've got. That's one beautiful survivor! Looking forward to more detailed body/interior pics. Mike

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
One one hand it looks like something grafted to the a tudor body.
You can see they kept the belt molding through to the doors. It looks like the beading over the rear fenders stops about at the top of the fender arch. The confusing part is the door integration. The door has the flat belt molding, but clearly it uses the original hinges and door latch. The stampings just look like later commercial and it appears the one rear window is partially rolled down. If that is the case it was intended for passenger service. Hopefully someone on the board buys it and reports back |

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
Yeah, I'm with Kevin on this as I was looking at it it earlier this morning thinking it definitely has some unusual panel work going on. A lot of trouble to get working windows in the rear for flowers , ...however for me, it tends to give me an eery feeling for some reason. Maybe just the mood I'm in???

Is it just me, or does it look like a Hearst?

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
I’m thinking it’s parts of two 28 – 29 Tudor bodies joined to a 31 cowl. Looks like one body, including doors, was cut off behind the rear windows. The other was cut off in front of rear windows and welded on. The second body was cut off behind the rear windows, the flat door panel welded on, and the wheel wells filled. The thing I’m not sure about is whether the hinges on 28 – 29 doors match up to those on a 31 cowl.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
The rear doors remind me of a Jeep wagoneer or something, but neat car anyway

It's two Tudor bodies mated together.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
The "Hearse" that Ford built was built on a AA chassis, and does not look anything like this one. Doesn't mean that this one wasn't used for that purpose, however.

Maybe it was the last car Randolph rode in.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
Two twodoors put together, no doubt. The rear doors just don't look right. Wonder if these have been changed at some point. The coachwork probably looked good as new, and could again. I'm thinkin black with Tacoma Cream wheels.
I'd prefer the curves of the sedan at the rear, with a sedan delivery type, one piece door.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
31 splash aprons, could be coach work, not a one off Frankenstein.

Re: Interesting A on the 'bay'
The bodywork looks well done but I doubt it’s coach-built. A coach-builder might have used the cowl but they likely would have built the body from scratch rather than using the Tudor bodies. And the abbreviated rear wheel moldings and the flat rear panel are a little crude for coachwork. I also don’t think it was built as a hearse or flower car. The wheels and rear bumper look to be late-40s/early-50s. While they could have been installed at any time, they may indicate when the car was built. Besides transporting the deceased, a funeral home’s vehicles are rolling advertisements of the business. An undertaker would want, and probably could afford, something newer and nicer than a pieced-together Model A. I think it is a one-off built by a body man or a talented amateur for someone’s personal use or possibly small business.
