RHD dash components in 33
I am working on mounting the dash on my 33 Tudor. It is a right hand drive car and I need to know the position of the gauges and knobs in the dash when compared to the more common USA LHD cars.
LHD cars have the ammeter to the R of the driver and gas gauge to the L LHD cars have the choke knob to the R of the center and the throttle knob to the left of center How were they placed originally in RHD cars? Is it a mirror image? Please post a photo if possible. Thanks. Manuel |

Re: RHD dash components in 33
Any 33 owner can post a photo? I thought that having the fuel line on the R side of the frame will be logical that the fuel gauge be placed to the R of the driver in a RHD car. Any other opinions before I mount my dash with same layout as a LHD car?

Re: RHD dash components in 33
Manuel,
Recalling that your car is a four, the choke is on the right and the throttle is on the left, both cable operated. As you've already surmised, the fuel gauge is on the right side. These are also the same location as LHD fours. |

Re: RHD dash components in 33
Perhaps down under, but elsewhere the V-8 fuel/air line was routed on the right side of the chassis opposite the exhaust system, just as the LHD routing puts the line and exhaust system on opposite sides of the chassis. It is only on fours where the fuel/air line and exhaust system are routed on the same (right) side because of the fuel pump location.

On a v8 RHD ,Because the tank and pump out let is on the left and the exhaust was moved to the left ,both ran parallel I would say this would be universal for RHD v8. Australia ,Canada , NZ ,UK ,Sth Africa ,

Re: RHD dash components in 33
I agree about the pump outlet/inlet orientation, but please note the 18F-9288 flex hose shown on the right in the photo below that addresses that orientation combined with fuel/air line routing on the right side. The LHD V-8 flex hose (18-9288) is on the left and the four-cylinder flex hose (B-9288) for both LHD and RHD is in the center in the photo.
Routing the fuel/air line on the same side as the exhaust system is an open-ended invitation of vapor lock with a V-8, even with the 1930's less volatile gasoline. |

Re: RHD dash components in 33
I should have added that the above photo is of a RHD 1934 with the V8 motor.
