Model T transition from 25' to New Model 26' what month?
Does anyone have any documentation of when the “new” Model T came out in 1926??
Late 25'? Or sometime in 26’? Could there have been a 1925 style roadster that was a 26? Meaning an early model 26? Was really a late 25? Thanks! |

Re: Model T transition from 25' to New Model 26' what month?
The new body style for the 1926 model year began production sometime in September of 1925. Model T sales were way down so Edsel finally talked his dad into a facelift of the model since he wouldn't yet approve a completely new model. Ford started stamping the frames with the engine serial number in December of 1925 so there are early 1926 models that do not have a frame number. September of 1925 started with engine serial number 12290761 in production but earlier or later numbers may have been used for the 1926 model year just in the way Ford did production. November was the common month when new models were released for sales in the model A era but the last of the model Ts may not have waited for that long in 1925. Ford really needed better sales at that time.
Ford started production of the model T engine at the Rouge plant in September of 1924 and discontinued production at Highland park early 1925 as the line wound down production. Production of the new model T cars ended May 26 1927 with S/N 15,000,000. The engines for industrial apps and replacement parts continued in back shop production until somewhere in 1941. It is! Thanks for sharing. I just came across a 1926-27 roadster body. I sat it down on a model a frame. Fits great. I’ve read that if the model a body wasn’t ready they were going to produce the model t on the a frame during the transition.
