1946 headlight switch?
What year is this headlight switch? I thought 1946 but comparing it to other switch photos it doesn't look like what I am seeing. This knob is grey, but the catalog descriptions I have been looking at says "metallic grey". The one I have is grey, but not metallic grey.
All help greatly appreciated. Thanks. T Last edited by TonyM; 12-14-2014 at 11:00 PM. |

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
Hard to tell from the photos above, but sure looks like metallic gray to me.

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
Here is a photo from the Early Ford Store catalog looks a little more silvery than the switch knob in the photo I shot. Thanks for the help Seery.

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
Sorry, I was referring more to the switch itself, looks like your referring to the knob! I agree, the one you have is more of a gray, it would be hard to tell from just the catalog photos, but they do look different.

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
Sorry for the confusion; yes, the knob. I have been having trouble with English lately.

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
If you have an original knob, perhaps it has faded or "lost it's sheen" in the last 68 years? It definitely isn't brown and I see no hint of tan in it but it does look blue gray. I have a '46 with approximately the same color knobs.

Re: 1946 headlight switch?
With red lettering, it is likely for a '46. The later years had black letters. As for the color of the body of the switch, Ford used many suppliers for such parts, so they often vary in appearance.
