Re: Rust colored fan belt
I got a reddish rust colored fan belt from Brattons, sometimes in the nineties. I don't think that they have been offered in years. I remember that the red belt was a little bit shorter than the black belts that were sold at the time. I think that the red belt was suppose to be the original type, That is why I wanted it. The one that I had didn't last that long and then, they were no longer offered by any of the places that I got parts.

Re: Rust colored fan belt
From what I was told red belts came on early a's from factory. I have a brand new one at my shop and no one has ever been interested in it.

Re: Rust colored fan belt
I've seen them on the Model T. I think some T suppliers still sell them.

Re: Rust colored fan belt
From http://fordbolts.com
__________________________________________________ _______________________ If one looks closely at available factory photos taken in the Model A era and compares the shading of the engine fan belt to other rubber components, etc, he can not help but conclude that they were different colors. Fortunately we have been able to find enough documentation, photos and NOS belts to develop a special color agent to change your black, post-war service (or modern replacement) fan belt to the correct brown. B-108-P Special fan belt coloring agent (it really does the job – one $ 15.95/half pint that normal paints can't do) __________________________________________________ ___________________________

Re: Rust colored fan belt
I have tried the fordbolts belt paint and yes it does kind of work. It does give the belt a redish brown look, like an original but it wears off where it runs on the pullies. I have run it many years and it does hold up on the outer flat surface but is now black else where. Did not really last to long on the pulley surface. It is kind of in the maybe better than nothing category but not really that great.

Re: Rust colored fan belt
I bled on my fan belt & that reddish-brown spot was still there when I sold "Minerva!" Won't try that again, maybe some sort of shoe dyes, or maybe redish, orange lipstick like my Momma used? ( Bless her heart! ) Bill W.
