Default Hood hinge bolts, F-1

Is there anything special about the hood hinge bolts? The previous owner told me that it needed hinge bolts so I bought the hood hinge to hood bolts but those are still there, I need the bolts that bolt the hinge to the firewall. Are they just regular bolts? Thanks.

Ok, last question. The other part that bolts to the side of the cowl with three bolts, are these special bolts? Is it just a 5/16 bolt with a washer and a lock nut on the other side (inside the cab)?

I'm not exactly what part you are refering to in your comment. But, the front end doesn't have any speciality fasteners holding the sheetmetal. There are some critical bolts holding the radiator support to the frame and the fenders to the rad support. Most everything else is a 5/16 fine thread.

I believe your first question was about the spring support, which attaches to the firewall and is separate from the hinges.

I believe now you are talking about the hinges. As far as I know, all 48 - 52 trucks' hinges had studs permanently attached to the plate that attaches to the side of the cowl. They are also 5/16-24 UNF. The bolts that attache the hood to the other end of the hinge are likewise 5/16-24 UNF.

There is no plate, just three holes. There is a reinforced plate inside the cab where the bolts go through. The holes in the hinge part are slotted. I assume this is for adjustment.

That doesn't sound like any 48-52 I've ever seen. Mine is shown below.

Most hood hinges use special shoulder bolts in the hinges themselves, which are safety wired.

Ok so my hinge does not have studs. Talked to Ken Crans on here and he said there should be studs. I have two hoods and both have slotted holes where the studs would be. This looks factory. Were some hinges made without studs?

The studs are on the part that bolts to the side of the cowl. The hood has captured nuts where the hinge arms bolt into, 2 on each side. Possible they were drilled out if the bolts snapped off.

Yes I know that now, both sets I have do not have studs, they have slotted holes. I can take a picture if you need. They do not appear to be modified. My truck is early, could this have been a production piece that was changed? There were never any studs in these.
