Engine Pans
Hey there folks!! If anyone is fixin to order engine pans i would have to recommend the pans that MAC's sells (if they are different from the other suppliers). Them things practically fell into place and bolted in with no pushing or pulling or cutting. I have read posts on here that they were hard to fit or didnt fit. These suckers went right in. A great product!

Re: Engine Pans
Drew, your experiences are definitely worth sharing as my experiences with these pretty much mirror yours. I am pretty sure the pans you are mentioning are manufactured by Antique Auto Sheetmetal, ...which I believe are the ones all the dealers are selling. Yes, they do fit but sadly they do not match any of the 4 (??) styles of original pans that Henry made. The ones I think most of us have trouble with is trying to straighten & restore originals where they will fit without a fuss. I will say I do remember someone who was complaining that his did not fit well nor stay mounted. The reason his did not work well was because he was using Float-a-motor mounts.

Re: Engine Pans
Brent thank you for your input!! I must have read the posts wrong. I wish I could have original pans but these ones will have to do i guess. I though I was gonna have to set aside a whole day to install these puppies and actually it took about 1/2 hour. I am happy and satisfied. I enjoy reading your input on this forum and find your knowledge very useful and well pointed. I hope to get on over to your neck of the woods one of these days to say hey. Mr. James Rodgers says you got a pretty nice place over there. Thanks again!

Is this still an issue with the pans MACs sells? I also have Float a motor mounts, no engine pans. What is the intended function of the engine pans? |

Re: Engine Pans
They sure do cool the motor better!!! I went for a ride when I got home today and the best i can see its about 8 degrees cooler. That was about 45 MPH on the country roads around here. Ive been told that they cool up to 13 degrees better. Im impressed because I would think that the motor compartment being open would cool better than if it was all closed up. They seem to really finish off the look under the hood too. I like em!

Re: Engine Pans
I have Float a motor mounts, will these present a fit issue with Mac's pans?

Re: Engine Pans
If the engine can flex in the frame, the movement makes it difficult to keep it tight to the pan rail bolts.

Re: Engine Pans
I heard that the tabs eventually break off. Do the new ones have any reinforcement at the tabs or is this a non-issue for the most part.

Re: Engine Pans
Have you ever look at the mtr mnts at night when someone else starts? Let the sparks fly, btdt. Think about where the current path is, the path of least resistance, all that attaches the drive train is loose connections, ex. Mtr mnt, spring bushings etc. Not good unless one run an extra gnd cable.
Not a feeling, fact. |

With the pans installed you can also usually retrieve a dropped wrench without crawling under the car. |

Re: Engine Pans
Is that what the girl in your Avatar photo is doing? Looking for the wrench you dropped?
