Default Compression on a 1926 T

What should the compression be on a stock 1926 T? I got the engine warmed and checked the compression on each cylinder. 1,2 and 3 read 50psi, 4 reads 48psi. This sounds a little low to me

That's fine. Over 40 is OK. 50-55 is good.

What Steve said. Not great but not worth spending cash on. Here's the thing: Most recommend warming the engine. This increases the compression is some cases because of expanded parts. On the T with it's lower than modern pressures I like to do them cold. Reason? A cold/lower reading can make a difference when starting cold. Do this to at least plan what will need to be done later: Take a set of cold readings then shoot a bit of oil into #1 and re-take the test. If goes up it usually indicates worn rings because the oil temporarily seals them. If it doesn't go up it's an indication of possibly leaking valves. The oil doesn't affect them. Repeat with the remaining cyls. Write down your findings. Don't trust to memory. This will tell you if a valve or ring job is in your future.

PS: always take a comp. test with the throttle & choke wide open.

Altitude affects compression also. Probably no effect in your case, but just so others know.
