Default Trouble mounting a tire to a split rim

I am having trouble mounting a tire to a 21" split rim. I am using a rim spreading tool, but having to apply a lot of pressure trying to get the latch to catch. I am afraid to apply too much pressure and bend the rim.
This is a new rim from Snyders. Is there a secret to mounting this tire?
Looking for advise. HELP!!!!!!!

Got the tire on the rim today. It took 2 of us and 3 tire tools. Now I know what it is like to wrestle a bear.

Get a Rim Spreader like on Ebay # 290545700587 and it is easy to mount the tire on a split rim. I refer you to the Ebay item because I can't take a photo of the rim spreader tool that I have. I loaned it out two months ago and it hasn't returned.

The rim spreader has three legs, one is an expanding jack screw and the other two are solid but moveable at their mounts. The jack screw leg goes opposite the rim split. The two solid legs go on the split side of the rim lug mounts. Put the tire on the rim and then crank the spreader so that when the jack screw is extended the solid legs will push the rim apart at the split so you can lock the rim. Do just the opposite to remove the tire.

Buford:
I tried several times to buy a rim jack(spreader) on e-bay to no avail. I read on another forum that rim jacks were bad to bend a rim and that using a turn buckle was much safer. So, when i needed to replace a tube in one of my wheels, I tried it and I think that it worked super well with little or no danger of bending a rim. I simply welded two 3/8 bolts in the eyes of the turnbuckle (keeps them form moving around) and placed it on the two lugs on each side of the split and used only hand force to pull the rim together. I only needed to move it a couple of inches or maybe less, I can't remember exactly. Used a couple of the old ford tire tools to pry the tire off the rim. It all went very easily as i recall. The beauty of it, is that when i was ready to push the rim back, it easy moved with hand pressure to turn the turn buckle. I was easily able to manuever the rim back in place inorder to lock the latch. I do realize that every job is not the same and my rims were old Ford. but it worked for me.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help. Next time I will try the turnbuckel idea.
