1950 Ford

I have a 1950 Ford w/ V-8 and one valve is clicking I have put some Marvin mystrey oil in the oil and gas tank and waiting to see if it stops. If it does not any ideas what it might be? Thanks Jerry

Ahh Jerry, don't use that cheap copycat "Marvin mystrey oil"
Use the real mccoy "Marvel Mystery Oil".

Yep it`s an exhaust valve stuck open. Remove the spark plug from the offending cylinder and gently (very gently) tap the valve with a punch or screwdriver and most likely it will be running fine.I know some will frown on this fearing that the valve can be bent.It only takes the slightest tap to free the stuck valve . You will hear the valve snap down into place. This usually happens after the motor has not run for a while. Winter storage etc. This may not work if the engine has not been run for 10 years , so common sense should prevail.

This is why Flatheads are the greatest....so simple to fix using common sense.

Thanks I will try removing the sparkplug and giving it a gentle tap. Oh I think I put Marvel in it.(Didn't remember how to spell it). thanks Jerry
