I use soapy water and a couple of the bar clamps from HF to help hold it together and to help pull the frame together, as I use a rubber hammer-pound-pull up clamps-pound-clamps. It is a bear to do--just did two, one in a 36 another in a 35 and soon will do one for a 39.

Re: best way to fit glass in 37, 38, 39 windshield frame
I use WD40 for both removing and replacing glass in my 39 (37 frame). there are different thickness tapes, so make sure your tape is not too thick for the fit. Once the tape is applied to the glass, spray it with WD40. That will soften the tape and allow it to slide into the frame. If it dries too quickly, spray on more until you can bring the frame sections together. The WD40 will evaporate and you will have a good fit. An old glass man taught me that. Paul Selfe.
