Stuck Pitman Arm
Any tricks on getting a pitman arm off? I am trying to replace my pitman arm on my 50 F1 due to egg shaped ball. Broke 2 pullers trying to get it off and haven't budged it yet. Any ideas????

Re: Stuck Pitman Arm
Support one side with a BIG hammer, and whack the opposite side hard with a hammer only a bit smaller. Then try a puller. If it wont pop right off, use heat around the outside.

Re: Stuck Pitman Arm
Did you break a regular puller or a pitman arm puller? A good pitman arm puller like a snapon will get it off. It's a tapper and splines.

Re: Stuck Pitman Arm
A good quality pitman arm puller is one piece that slips around the pitman and a screw to press against the sector with a center point.

Re: Stuck Pitman Arm
I have a 3ft crowbar that has worked for me. Prying between the frame and back of pitman arm. Also use a propane torch to heat up and break the rust bond.
