Default ford f1 Instrument Panel Light switch

had my truck for 3 years until i discovered it under the dash. why did Henry put that in there? was it because you could turn off the lights while watching submarine races?

Well Henry was gone by that time. I had a 48 and thought it was also strange that the switch was under the dash.

Believe it or not I used that switch the other evening on the way home from a show. It was almost dusk so I had the headlights on but still too daylight for dash lights so I flipped the switch. Maybe it was meant for that purpose? To conserve battery power?

Probably also being a farm vehicle, no purpose for a light up dash to keep track of speed.

When driving out in the country, no other traffic, streetlights, etc., the dash is reflected in the rear window. So if you look in the rear view mirror, all you see is the dash. That's on my 52, I don't know if it's the same on 48-50's with their different dash and smaller back window? But on 51-52's, no on-off switch for the dash lights.

On 51-52 you rotate the headlight switch to dim the dash lights.
