I have a Lebaron Bonney top that was purchased back in 1975, when I aquired my 29 Sport Coupe as a youngster, still new in the box along with the rest of the upholstery kit. The top is plain tan canvas, I have seen alot of photos of Sport Coupe tops using a material that looks alot more similar to the diagonal weave of Whipcord, see the attached photo. Can someone tell me who is making this top? I called Lebaron Bonney and they didnt seem to know what I was talking about so I assume it is not theirs.

Your top looks very similar to material carried in Mac's catalog. The material is
made by "Cartouche." My catalog is a 2010 catalog, so giving you a page number
probably won't help you. You might give Mac's a call at: 800-777-0948.

haartz corp. 978 264 2600 ask for eric . they have whipcord. style no. 2024/6 i had the materal sent to lebaron bonney, thay made the top. jack

If Eric Haartz can provide you with the fabric he can help there as well. Top fabrics are essentially two layers of fabric laminated over a rubber center. He would (should) have a supply of the same fabrics in their original form which is where the interior covering comes from.

I guess I am trying to figure out if I scrap the top kit I already have or if it would look alright to mix and match my tan bowdrill and panels with the Whipcord top. I dont know how different the materials look since I dont have a top sample

randy.your kit should have all material required. call eric for whipcord sample. I was completely satisfied with both lebaron bonney and haartz. Jack

If my memory is correct 1928+29 had quite a few options for top materials on sport coupes? 1930 they had one option it was a gray /brown material, 1931 was brown/tan. Marcos web site has some pictures of orignal 30,31 material. I bought my material from company in Cal. it was orignal made for Mercedes/Benz.
