Default 1930 5-Window Coupe Barn Find!

New to the Ford Barn and I thought I would share my find! It's a 1930 5-window Coupe with rumble seat. All original except for wheels and tires and this car sat in a barn in Montana from 1953-2007. It runs and drives great and has the title. ZERO rust and it is all straight....I plan on restoring it back to original.

Let me know what you guys think!

Here is a picture of the car:

Wow, even had an old barnfind license plate!

This should make a great project. Congrats on the find! How did 'whomever' find it back in 2007? Friend of a friend or just stumbled onto it??

That license plate is classic isn't it? A car restorer just stumbled across this gem in 2007 and drove it into town a couple times but other than that, the car has just sat.

Nice Find! Welcome and Congratulations.

I see that your Brake and Clutch Pedals are not even with each other. Mine are, but the brakes and clutch Pedal mounting arms on mine have been rebuilt, You might want to check that part out, before you take it down the road for a celebratory drive. I am sure that someone with more knowledge than I will chime in, but just be careful. It would suck it you cannot stop it as fast as you need to before you take it down for restoration.

Thanks for the info. I am excited to learn all about how these Model A's are built. I have a 1929 truck and a 1930 truck. Both flat beds that I would like to make into pickups down the road. My collection is growing but now i need to pick one to work on!

I would find the missing parts and keep it as it is. It is history and is only original once.

These cars look awesome when they are completely restored exactly like the original.

Personally I would go through it mechanically and fix the worn out stuff (if there is any) and cosmetically leave it alone! Maybe put the proper 19" wheels and tires on it. Nothing against restored cars, but in a sea of restored Model "A"s yours will stand out and I would guarantee it will have a crowd of people around it admiring it!

Looks like it would be a lot of fun just like it is. I would probably install a set of black 19 inch wheels and black wall tires. I would fix what needed fixing about the running gear and leave the body as is.

I have to agree with the others that this one is too nice to restore. Unmolested cars like this should just be made safe to drive and enjoyed. I have a 1930 Town Sedan that won the People's Choice second place award at a large car show because of it's originality. It was next to fully restored cars and more people paid attention to mine. I am not one for trophies but this is just an example of what interest that there is out there for original/unmolested cars.

Thank you for the input. The car was brush painted sometime in the 1940's so i don't know if that hurts the originality factor of the car. It was originally a green color that you can see underneath the paint it has now.

I to agree with those who say don't restore it BUT make sure it is mechanically safe to drive.

I have an original Feb./Mar. 1929 Tudor sedan which I am going through it and checking our or replaceing bearings and seals and other items but replacing them with items which are original to the assembly time period AND cleaning all that dried up grease.

Except for 2-3 parts, everything will still retain the original pitina including the upholustry.

yes, a restored car looks absolutly fantastic BUT an original car with it's original pitina looks even better...at least in my eyes.

What is the assembly plant code on the body? Go to my wbsite and go to Additional Studies, then go to Letters, Numbers and Codes...that will tell you where to look.

If you take that car to a Cruise Night at your local eatery, I will bet you a burger it will garner twice as much attention as a totally restored Model A or any Hot Rod. It is Primo the way it sits, (after it is mechanically sound and safe, and wheels/tires). If you put money into it to improve the looks, I would do the interior and nothing more.
