49-50 mercury f-1 oil pan question
Does anyone know if a 48-52 Ford F-1 V8 truck oil pan will fit a 1949-50 Mercury car?
Thanks! Bill |

Re: 49-50 mercury f-1 oil pan question
Here is a photo of one for sale on Ebay. Although it's rear sump, I don't think it will fit the F1 Ford truck. The 49-50 merc oil pan looks much different in the bell housing area.

Although, they are similar in shape the truck pan has a longer sump, it may interfere with the steering linkage.

Re: 49-50 mercury f-1 oil pan question
The truck pan has an aluminum dust seal retainer at the back to work with the cast iron half bell and the pan also ties in with the half bell on the rear of the sump. The Mercury has the three studs on the bottom rear of the sump that tie into the starter plate for more structural rigidity. The Mercury is shorter in the sump bottom and has no clean out where the truck type has a clean out in the bottom and is deeper as was previously mentioned.
