Re: 6 Volt to 12 Volt Conversion 1954 Y Block
Response: When I "connected" the one-wire alternator, I started her up and put the meter on her and it was not recording a "charge". But I found out that the one-wire alternators need to get a good 2-2.5 RPM put to them before they begin to charge, and excite them; I was testing it at the idle speed.
So, going to get that alternator checked out (it's off); but need that bracket so I guess I'm going to CarCrap.net as suggested, already checked it out, talked to Larry (email) and get their bracket plus asked him what he would suggest for my 54 and he suggested Summit Racing Tuff Stuff Model 7068, 100 amp, one wire alternator; Summit (original Talmadge, Oh location) is about 30 minutes from me; so, next plan: Alternator Bracket - Carcrap.net: $119.00 Tuff Stuff Alternator - Summit: $ 90.00 Let's see how it goes. |
