Default Greasing Teflon Tie Rod/Drag Link Ball Seats

Is there any harm in greasing the teflon tie rod/drag link ball seats? I dont know how teflon reacts with petroleum products. What do people do? I am ultimately going to change out to the steel and get rid of the teflon, but for now can I grease them?

They don't need grease, that's the whole idea.

there is not much that can harn teflon, if yours are like mine they started to squeek, so i lubed them with white grease, dont use anything that has grafite in it , and if you are going to change them out what difference will it make?

And of course, that begs the question: WHY are you going to change them out?

I replaced both steering arms and the pittman arm, replaced with the teflon bushings, new springs and end caps, and rubber dust boots. I pre- lubed the balls with regular basic grease for ball joints. After all was back together I used the gun on all grease fittings. So whats going to happen now ?? Is the grease going to cause a problem ?

Grease them with any lubricant to prevent oxidation (rusting) of the steel ball. Grease gives a slight reduction in friction even with Teflon.

One other thought to ponder. These Teflon inserts are mean to be expendable items just like spark plugs, oil, light bulbs, etc.. That is why the inserts are sold seperately in the catalogues. A little grease on a finely-polished, perfectly round ball is about the best you are going to get.

Ive been using the teflon seats in my coupe for the last 13,000 miles & I grease them every 500 miles & I expect they will outlast me.Ive also put them in my S/W sedan as well.
