Default Rotary "00" Grease

Today I bought a 32 oz. bottle of Rotary "00" Grease ($10) from a Snapper Yard Eqmt dealer. it refers to Glennville, Ga.

A place on internet says Rotary is same as Amsoil. (?)

Anybody know if this is good stuff?

thank you,

Uhh, I'm trying to understand the situation here... You bought some grease, you don't know who makes it, or if it is good stuff?

the continuing sage: there has been much discussion about selecting good lubricant for the U-joint. Chevron ep-00 lithium based grease was recommended but alas, they only sell it in 5 gal. buckets.

00 grease is very thick at room temp and almost has no leakage; when it begins to warm up, it flows into the u-joint to produce efficient lubrication.

I was delighted to find a 32 oz. bottle for $10.

sorry about the lack of info,

The thing you should check is if it is lithium based -as opposed to urea based like cornhead grease . Cornhead grease also is "0" viscosity and is not fluid . "00" viscosity IS FLUID . The stuff in the pic is $7.99 @ qt at the local John Deere dealer . I use this stuff in my old John Deere tractors steering gears and mixing a couple quarts in with the tranny fluid really quiets the all straight cut gears down . Never used it in my Fords as I like 140 gear lube in steering.u-joint,tranny and rear end . IF I was going to use something other than 140 in the steering & u-joint this would definately be it . Sounds like what you have there and what I posted pics of are the same IF yours is lithium based . Ed Solari talked much about this stuff and the fact that using urea based cornhead grease in the u-joint and lithium based gear lube in the tranny as these intermix wether you want them to or not . Mixing urea & lithium based stuff isn't the best idea .

Just for information, the most common use years ago for the 00 Lithium grease was in the track rollers of crawler tractors. That's what it was developed for.
