Default Breaking up, ignition or carb???

My 59 engine in my 36 is breaking up at mid range RPM at first I thought it was ignition.I have since found that if I pull my choke on slightly it smoothes out.The carb is a rebuilt one by one of the barns premiere rebuilders,Any comments or sugestions are appreciated. Thanks Phil

Try another coil. A weak spark will act up the same way.

This is the reason I asked the question,it acts like ignition but the choke deal puzzled me.Thanks Ken for the offer will try a coil and condenser first. Thanks Phil
