The Bishop Tardel book has been an inspiration to me for several years now. Around May of 2001, I got in a fifteen minute or so visit. (It was after 2:00 PM and my wife and I hadn't had lunch yet.) I'd like to live closer to the action there. But, I'm doing what I can with what I got. Alas....

In your full post you mentioned Keith Tardel as your best buddy. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. I have the pleasure to care for the second car he built as Rex Rod.

HOLY COW!!!! Small world! I love that car. When Keith was building it, I spent hours just studying every detail. That's literally one of the best built roadsters I've ever had the pleasure of studying. Such a GREAT car.

As for Keith, he's pretty much my brother. He and Marry are god parents to my daughter and my wife and I are god parents to his. He's the best pal a guy could ever have.

Here's a link to the story about the car Keith built for me:

We do... That's a Tardel "special" cam. I believe our motors are identical.

I've got a ton of miles on mine and it still runs like a dickens. Keith is wanting to put some high compression heads on it, but I so love the way the stockers look...

Thumbs up Re: Vern Tardel's Flathead Ranch

Thank you for the photos. I'd love to go out there someday. There are just too many intriguing car stops to make on the West coast.

What a neat shop! Those are some nice pics!

Ryan, that coupe is one of the nicest I've seen. It's exactly my style. I'll have to check on it a little more over on the HAMB.

As I've said million times, God Bless Ryan!

Here's the contact page of his web site:http://www.verntardel.com/pages/contact note his comments about phone calls. He's about getting things done.

Navigate around the rest of the site to get a feel for what else he's about.

That's amazing. What a dream that must be to wake up there every morning and call that "work".

Vern even has good taste in diners(Ingram's Chili Bowl). That place was an institution for years!
Just goes to show, you don't necessarily have to have a brush in your hand to be considered an 'artist'. Nice to see that is being passed-down.
