Default Manufacture of the 1953 Mercury radio

Where do I find out who manufactured the radios for the 1953 Mercury's? The only wiring diagram for the radio that I have found is for a 7 tube radio and mine is the 8 tube radio.

Thank you

Roy

I found this on the Antique Radio Forum - "The 8 tube radios for 53/54 had the model number in ink on the center of the bottom of the radio. FoMoCo had at least 6 radios for 1953. 4 radios for Ford: 3SF-755 (Sylvania--may be 3CF Colonial) with 8 tubes, 3BF (Bendix) with 6 tubes, 3MF (Motorola) with 6 tubes, and 3MFT (2-piece Motorola-Truck) with 6 tubes. Lincoln/Mercury had 2: Lincoln was model 3SH-756, Mercury was 3SM-757, both basically the same 8 tube radio as the 3SF Ford radio made by Sylvania".

Assuming that is correct for your radio, then look at this: https://www.samswebsite.com/en/photo...index/id/51441

bbrust,

First let me say thank you. Now all I need to know, is the 3SM-757 the same as the 4SM-767? I have two of them (one for the car and a parts radio) and both are marked the same (4SM-767), even though I can confirm at least one of the tubes is different.

Zenith was also one of the manufacturers used in 50s but I don't know about 1954. Similar car models like 52 & 53 used similar enough radios to interchange. Sometimes the knobs were changed but many times they will interchange from year to year. I'm not sure if the 1954 is more like a 1955 or 1953. Some are one year only back in the early years of automotive radio sets.
