Default Borg Warner overdrive coming out of gear

Going downhill while in overdrive is coming out of overdrive as engine brakes against it. Has anyone here experienced this? It seems like it’s not seating completely in gear just not sure if that’s the case. It is a r10, Looking for help, thanks.

Isn't that the way it should work because of the roller clutch in the OD?
Read number 10 on page 4. http://www.santaanitaas.org/wp-conte...ner-manual.pdf

Make sure the cable that shifts it in and out of overdrive is adjusted for full throw, in and out when looking at the shift lever on the overdrive.. With it in overdrive it should freewheel.

I put that wrong,,,, when it’s in direct drive, not overdrive it wants to jump in and out of gear going downhill.

My BW overdrive cable will sometimes work its way down when in direct drive and starts to jump in and out of gear as well. This usually happens on rough roads or bumps especially down hill when the gears are lightly loaded.

You might try adding some friction to the cable or just do as I do and occasionally check the cable to make sure it is pulled all the way out and hasn't slipped down.

Thanks fellows, AzBob, I’m going to call a parts supplier today who specializes in the r10 - r11 “Vintage auto garage”. They advertise for you to call them with questions so I will. I’ll let you know what I find if anything.
