Default Okie joe 4'' Drop images

looking for pics of king pin in drop axle . On my stock 30 pick up the bearing takes the weight by being placed between the bottom of axle and spindle.

My 30 V8 coupe is running a Okie Joe drop axle. there isnt room between axle and spindle so they put the bearing on the top of spindle directly under king pin
is this right ?? Does any one have a different way ??

What year is the axle? Assuming a later year I would find some later spindles to match.

Axle A is a 28-31 Model A Ford which has been stretch dropped 4 inches.
Axle B is a 32 Ford Heavy which has been stretch dropped 5 inches.
Axle C is a 32-36 Ford which has been stretch dropped 4 inches.

Here is my Okie Joe dropped axle on my roadster with 39-41 spindles. Picture might be hard to see. The bearing is on the bottom of the axle. On the Model a pictured above, the bearing is on top. Not sure what you have for spindles. Hope this helps.

28 to 48 the kingpin boss is the same height and bore. Change the spindle to the later 37 to 41 or 42 to 48 if your running juice brakes.
Sometimes you can find a old ford axle with the kingpin boss cut down if it had chevy spindles and brakes installed at one point

Needle bearings below the axle and above the lower spindle mount

Your "stock" 30 Model A isn't stock, if it was the beating would be on the top of the spindle directly under the brake operating thang. Not between the Axle and spindle.
I believe it was 1937 when the spindle was redesigned to put the bearing under the axle, can't remember what the 1936 had, hence my 1937 date.
Martin.

That's right, Mart. The intro of the 37 "roundback" spindle also included the spindle below the axle, between the axle and the lower spindle boss. 36 spindles have the bearing on top like the earlier jobs.

Rule to keep in mind with old Fords..........The KINGPIN (and bearing), along with their assembly CONFIGURATION, is always determined by the year of the spindles used. DD
