Waterpump question
What is the best way to hold the fan and waterpump shaft while tightening the nut for the fan. Clamp the shaft with vise-grips or just hold the fan while tightening? I really don't know how tight the nut should be for the fan. It doesn't say in the Les Andrews book anything about using a torque wrench. Thanks again Ron

Re: Waterpump question
I just tightned mine by holding the fan. It got snug enough that it will not move and the cotter pin will keep it from getting loose.

Re: Waterpump question
First of all, just placing the hub on the shaft and tightening the nut will not seat the hub on the shaft taper. Be sure to take a rubber mallet or something and tap the fan down on the taper. I use a deep socket over the threads and tap carefully.
If the hub is not down on the taper, you will do all that work to install it and the fan will wobble. Then I put the propellers in a vice and tighten the nut.

Re: Waterpump question
I bought a 2 blade aluminum fan. Thanks for the idea about tapping it onto the tapered shaft before installing the nut. I wouldn't have thought to do that. That's why this forum is so great. Originally I thought it was a dumb question, but I'm happy I asked. Everyone have a great weekend. Ron
