I know we are not suppose to be political on the Fordbarn, but that was - and still is - truly honorable and well deserved.

When it comes to honoring our vets, they will always have a place in everything I do, whether it be a forum or just saying Thanks to you from everyone of us that depend on you all! for yor sacrifices that you and your families made to defend our rights and the freedom we have today. I have made a pledge to do the best I CAN to express my appreciation to any veteran I run across in public. If I see someone known to be military active or not in a line at a restraurant I try to pay for their meal or needing help in a way that I am able to be of service , I believe it is an honor to do all we can for them.

My ex worked with one of these men who was shot down within a year of the war's end. He faked brain damage and stuck to his script to mostly avoid interrogation/torture. In the name of decency I can't repeat some of the things he said he'd do in the presence of guards to keep them convinced he wasn't worth the effort.

Redneck, so happy you shared that story. Most people today have no idea what those guys had to endure. Pain and suffering like none other ! Thanks again for the reminder of the freedom we enjoy today.

Thank You for posting that. A lot of people forget the sacrifices that have been made by people in the military to keep us free. To many take our freedoms for granted now.

My Father was an EX-POW from WWII. 99th Infantry Division. He was captured in the Battle of the Bulge By the 1st SS Panzer Grenadiers. He lost 60 pounds in 3 and a half months, he and 4 other GIs escaped on april 1st 1945 and made it back to the front where they met the 45th division. We went back there in 1973 and found the town of Bullingen Belgium where he was captured and the prison camp ( Stammlager 13C in Hammelburg) He had an excellent memory and spoke at length of his trials and tribulations. He passed away 5 years ago at 85, I think of him every day!!!

Outstanding. I wasn't in the Viatnam war, but I was in the Korean war. They didn't call it war back then, they called it a police action! Those kind of police actions cost a lot of lives and maimed many others. Sad. I lived only a few blocks from the Nixon library in Yorba Linda California.

President Nixon was not ALL bad. It is a rough job.
I liked the way he cared for our POWs.
