Default Dan Brusgard Steering Mast Jacket bearing Availability

May I ask if anyone is aware of the Dan Brusgard "Needle Bearing" steering column mast jacket kits are still available? I've tried contacting him via email twice now and cannot seem to locate the kit on ebay?

I'd buy a kit anywhere if it where available. Thank You

If you cannot locate him or one of his kits there is an alternative. Many of the V-8 parts vendors carry a kit which includes a bearing, a sleeve, and a spring that will work just fine on an early column and shaft. I know that C and G carries the kit and I'm sure others have it too.

Third Gen Auto sells a bearing for the steering column that looks better to me than the spring loaded plastic option. Disclaimer, I have yet to install the one I ordered.

IMHO needle bearings seem to be inefficient in that task.
I would much rather rely on the ball bearing application many of us use.

I installed a Dan Brusgard needle bearing kit in the 37 sedan that my father and I jointly owned. I liked the steering improvement so much I was pondering attempting to take the needle bearing setup out of the car before I sold it to a friend (I didn't, my friend got the improved steering).

I believe that these hardware store bearings have a small flange on one end of the O.D.

Steve/IL,
You're correct the hardware store bearings indeed have a flange,
We in the bearing industry call them "unground" bearings,
99.9% are made in china!,
I'm not aware of nor have ever seen in over 40yrs in the industry euro/usa/uk even jap made versions,
They're used in brick cutting machines, golf buggys , hand trolleys, a multitude /numerous a/various applications, they're poorly made &don't last very long,
I end up convincing customers to buy sealed unflanged versions more $ yes but far&way outlast the flanged versions being fully sealed both sides or metal sheilded.
