Fan Drive Pictures
I have searched Ford Barn and the internet for Fan Drive pictures of the following:
48/49 Truck 49/50 Mercury I am not sure what are the fan drive differences between these two vehicles, except that both have a wide belt pulley and are the non-oil filled type. Hard to see and compare on an engine and in a vehicle. If possible, any pictures of these fan drives off the engine or in the vehicle without the belts getting in the way of the picture? Thanks, Steve

.
The drawing in post #2 is an oil-filled fan. These BELOW have what are like water pump bearings. Coop . |

Re: Fan Drive Pictures
STEVE:
Here's some photos of the 8RT wide belt truck fan hub pulley that contains oil. It has a 5/8 inch dia. shaft which means it requires the bracket that has the 5/8 hole and the 2 bolts that secure the fan hub pulley shaft in place. Some other fans have 3/4 dia. shafts so make sure you use the correct fan bracket for the shaft size you are using. The green bracket shown below is an aftermarket that has the 2 holes required for securing the 5/8 in 8RT fan hub shaft. The engine shown in the photo is a later 1951 Mercury and Ford style 8BA that utilizes the 2 narrow belt pulley system, not the wide belt system of earlier years. I was just check the mock up of the green pulley bracket for a project I was making. Get the correct matching bracket that comes with your fan hub shaft. Steve, If you don't mind me asking, why do you need this info. Is it for a project you are building? May I suggest that you consider using the after market wide belt pulley that uses quality ball bearings and no oil. Here it is: https://www.google.com/search?q=bob+...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Also, read these threads for lots more info.: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...stion.1128673/ and https://www.google.com/search?q=flat...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Here's more info if you need parts: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...pulley+bracket and https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...pulley+bracket Plus, the blue fan hub pulley you see in this post is for sale. PM me if interested. Thanks. Last edited by 19Fordy; 04-26-2022 at 08:34 PM. |

Re: Fan Drive Pictures
Gentlemen, thanks for all the pictures and information.
V8COOPMAN, From your post #4. The fan hub and pulley in the last two pictures is what I'm looking for! They appear to be wide belt pulleys? What year and vehicle are they from? 19Fordy: Not my project looking for a friend. I like the Bob Drake hub and pulley except the it is for an eight bolt fan and my friend is cheap. I used a 41-48 oil filled fan in my last 32. I have a fixture to drill the fan mount to four bolts in order to use a narrow depth aftermarket fan to clear the water pump pulleys.
