33 fordors
I have my mates 33 over this morning,I have to do a prom in it as he is away for the week,so took a pic of his 33 and my 33 on the lawn,
these two 33,s both came from New Zealand owned by two mates that were only about 10 miles apart, I bought mine about 14 yrs ago and my mate bought his early this year. they now reside about 1 mile apart. Lawrie |

Nice looking cars. I'm a fan of fordors. Mine is a 34 and still a project.

Re: 33 fordors
Nice looking cars. I have 33 Fordor myself. Are those both US versions? Don't the AU 33-34's have a filler strip below the door-above the running board?

Re: 33 fordors
Both of them are the NZ new, and as such are just the same as a USA one except the steering is on the right side.

Re: 33 fordors
I think that "filler strip/splash apron" is only on the phaetons. I have a US 33 std phaeton, a 4 door! The Aussie phaeton has a flat wood floor.

Re: 33 fordors
Ok Lawrie, You are there and should know! The only cars I have ever seen in person or in pictures that have that strip have been phaetons but maybe all the model 40s are that way down there. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Re: 33 fordors
This Australian 1934 Ford Sedan clearly shows how different the USA Bodies were from the Australian Bodies. All Australian 1933 & 1934 Fords, regardless of body style had wooden floors & this "filler" piece that goes between the Running Boards & the "D" Mould under the doors. No panels will interchange between the USA models & the Australian models. While these photos are of a 1934 model, the 1933 Fords had the same bodies, the only difference being the front doors received an extra vertical strip, to accommodate the new for 1934 Windows that wound back slightly for ventilation.

Re: 33 fordors
Here is another Australian 1934 Ford Sedan which clearly shows how different the bodies on these are to the USA models. This car is on display at Movieworld on Queensland's fabulous Gold Coast. It is supposed to look like the Bonnie & Clyde car, so naturally, it is full of bullet holes & is parked outside the bank. The doors on all Australian built cars are wooden framed, similar to the USA Roadsters. The big change came to Australian Fords in 1935 when they changed to "all steel". The little badge fixed on the passenger side cowl on all Sedans & Coupes even reads "All Steel Body by Ford".

Re: 33 fordors
We have a US 33 std 4cyl. Looking at the Aussie cars, the rear Quarter window looks bigger too?? Doors are definitely different.
