Smile Steering wobble @ low speed after right turn

On occasion, I experience a front end shimmy or wobble after a right turn only at low speed. Close the throttle and the car recovers.

Any ideas where the problem cause lies?

Thanks...

Check toe-in and tighten up front spindle bolts.

Make sure the spring shackles are not binding and are lubed. check the wheels for true , roundness, and tightness.

Racemo, that low speed shake is not that unusual. I have a centerdoor that did it when I hit a bump at a low speed. Turning the steering wheel hard to the left or right corrects the problem. Tighten the spindle bolts does solve the problem, but I think that is a temporary fix. I did examine the entire front end and have not yet found a real cause of the problem.
One of the parts suppliers told me that the front spring shackles were binding and causing the wobble. I have not yet pulled the shackles for a close examination.

Put me down for the tighten the spindle bolts. I have driven my speedster for 7-8 years plenty of miles and about once every season i retorque the spindle bolts . Fixes the shimmy every time....

I re-did the ENTIRE front end with the exception of one part. That 1926 coupe at any speed would go into a death wobble. I mean 1/2 turn on the wheel back and forth until you came to a complete stop. Take off from there and she was happy until it decided to scare the crap outa you again. I even did the shock absorber thing from the tie rod to the axle. Replaced all 4 tires and tubes, front wheels, rims and bearings too... Made NO DIFFERENCE. It was in fact the worn out wishbone ball/socket on the pan.
Changed the alignment to a drastic negative caster "At Will". ws

Thanks a bunch guys. All your suggestions have good logic. I look forward to performing each one, one at a time. I want to see if I can learn something and assist others.
Cheers...

First try the wishbone ball/socket on the pan as y.m. Bill says. just a tiny bit of movement makes A LOT of difference at the other end, after any changes there you must recheck the toe-in as it changes that A LOT also.

How much free play is there in your steering wheel?

Racemo,
Also check that the pitman arm is tight, and check the yoke or U bolts that hold the front spring to the frame.

Thanks again to all.

I do believe I have too much wear clearance in the pan ball socket. The springs on the ball studs are bottomed out and I detect movement when forcing with a large screwdriver.

Cheers
