Tailgate gasket help
Ok, time to get a gasket for the tail gate on my 57 wagon. There is what is left of the on the tailgate that I am trying to replicate. There is also a thin gasket on the body. So I am not sure if there is supposed to be two gaskets or the flat gasket is added on.
I have two samples from Steele that I am can use: 1) 7/16w X 1/2h 2) 1”w I can trim it down if need be X 5/8”h The second one pushes out just a smidge. So I think I can use the one gasket for both. Any ideas? Mike

Re: Tailgate gasket help
Mike. There is a post about this on the 57 Ford forum. I used two of the courier cargo door seals that DC sells.
Also I found that some people add a second rubber piece alpine the edge of the upper gate to get a better water deal. Also at the bottom edge there is rubber flap. My wagon is missing the holder metal for it so it doesn't have it right now. |

Since the original style for the gate corners doesn't exist, it's best to lure the extra water away from the gutter corners at the tail. |
