Thumbs up First Drive,after 37 year's !!!

Hi Guy's,

Had the "Bright" idea of redoing my Coupe 37 year's ago.. Turned out to be a big Mistake for the time as I had to move a few month's after I had the A all torn down

At one point the car was stored in 3 different garages,,,Well after all these year's of working on it to get it back on the road I finally drove it around the block Yesterday !!!!!.Was kinda of strange driving the old coupe after all those year's...

I'ed forgot how much the old A's "move" around as they go down the street..I also forgot how quick you have to shift out of 1st gear into 2nd ...& move the spark lever..The steering was alittle stiff...The brake worked pretty good...Have to fine tune later,,but all & all it drove pretty good...did I get some "look's" going down down the street !!!

All the hard work faded away as I went down the street..I'ed like to thank all the guy's on FordBarn that have help me with question over the year's...One more A back after a long "Nap"

God bless my Friend's on Fordbarn ,,,

The best part of my drive is the thumbs up, waves and compliments I recieve while out on a drive. Have fun with your car.

Congrats Greg.

One nice thing about a Model A Ford is, they don't seem to mind laying up for a while until you can get back to them. Impossible pretty much to let a muscle car from the 60's withstand that. They seem to deteriorate pretty fast if just left sitting around.

I cant wait for some day to drive down my street. Mines been napping under the stars since the 50's.

You say all the hard work faded away - what about all the bloody knuckles? :P

Vermin's been layin' around, in various stages of re-construction, by 3 different owner, since 1987. SOON, he'll be "ON THE ROAD AGAIN"---Better go buy me sum DEPENDS!! Wish Gregg was still here for the first run! Buster T. will be my CO-PILOT! & we'll chase CATS.

That's a moment worth bottling, Greg. I also know how to regret pulling a car apart! Apart from my 28 A Phaeton, I've got a 28 Nash Sedan that's been in pieces almost as long as yours was (since 1979), during which time we moved house several times, including 6 years over 1000 miles north in Queensland. For some years there was 1000 miles between various bits of that car. I have only just now got the various bits of the car back in the one garage (... I HOPE!). Now THAT was a satisfying day, but all the real work is still ahead.

Great to hear you stuck with it all those years and did not give up like so many people do. A lot of pride when you get one put back together and on the road. Enjoy your Model A

Greg,

I know the feeling you're experiencing as I've been there as I am suremany Barners have. My Miss Tillie sat in an old Chicken Coop for decades. She is now treated with all the Dignity she deserves. CONGRATULATIONS......................
