Default Distributor delimma

I have the rex- nu pionts and plate it seems Im not getting any juice throught the L shaped brass/ copper part that connect the lower plate to the points post. ive cleaned ,sanded ,and cleaned and sanded, bent the brass/copper part on the bottum plate to make sure I have contact but dosen't seem to do any good . any one having problems with these setups. I had swapped in the modern style plate and points as a temporary fix till I could get another original or repo of an original but just haven't had the money. the modern plate worked great for about 1000 miles and just resently I have had this problem .

Most folks using that style of plate have had poor results with it. You just can't beat the original design that uses a wire to connect from the lower to upper plate. Just make sure to buy the original multi strand fine wire that the supplier sell. Unless your like Tom Wesenburg who has a spool of that style wire.

Herb, in a pinch for soft, multi-strand wire, just rip apart a common flat extension cord. Most are MANY soft strands & usually has soft covering. Good also for making jumper leads or for replacing the wire on your favorite test light.
Drove a fellow mechanic "NUTS"----found a flashing bulb & put it in his test light. It was a warning light bulb from some tractor. Bill W.

Pure Evil!
In college, I drove my roomate nuts; I replaced the 12V bulb in his Tensor light with a 6V Model A brake light bulb. On topic, eh? Incredibly bright light, on-off-on...
Gave that internal circuit breaker a workout.

I would make sure that you have voltage to the bottom plate. You might have a problem with the igniton cable.

From my experience, I would replace both plates and go back with original points. If you don't, it will be a source of irritation, one way or another until you do. If the condenser is the reason for the change, it can be mounted to the coil bracket and connected to the red wire side of the coil. There is NO advantage to having the condenser mounted on the upper plate. Good luck.

well guys I desided to change the plate to the original but come to find out I don't have any more spairs. so I desided to rob the one off my 30 CCpickup well turns out its a nu-rex also. so I moved over to my roadster pickup same thing nu-rex. last but not least my 4 door what do you know its a nu-rex also. well I put the top plate from the four door on my 29 ccpickup and she runs like a champ. so I just need to order a new top and bottom plate and i'll be back in buisness.
