Unhappy Help

Just got my 35's engine running again after 5 years since it was rebuilt. After running it for at idle for about 5 minutes and building some heat in the motor I noticed steam coming of the engine. Looks like the head cover is crack or has porosity .

Need help on:
  • Thoughts on repairs or replacement.
  • I had the motor rebuilt by someone 8 years ago, but can I remove the head cover myself to repair or replace?
  • Any thoughts on where to get a replacement.
  • While I am doing this repair should I send the two water pumps out to get the updated?
Another problem I have is when stepping on the clutch pedal it does not engage so that I can put the car into gear. I thought I had the clutch set correctly but I will go back and check. Is there any procedure on setting a clutch for a 1935?

thanks

Try a bottle of Barrs Leaks. That should stop the leak. At least it will give you time to find another head.
On the clutch problem, the disk might be stuck to the fly wheel after sitting 8 years. Try putting it in 3rd, set the e brake, step on the clutch, then try starting the engine. That might break it loose.

If the clutch is stuck to the flywheel, just block the clutch pedal in the down position and give it a day or two. Normal heat and cool cycles will break it loose pretty quick. I learned that on my old Ford tractor.
