y-block finned valley pan oil tube???

im intrested in running a finned aluminum valley pan ,i see some for sale on ebay and socal speed shop has one ,but i noticed that they dont have the oil fill tube! where is the oil supposed to go if you use this??? i figure the only other way isto run valve covers with oil and breather holes in them??but what if you wanted to run the finned valve covers that dont have holes also ??? is there something im missing??

Those parts make me think you found a bunch of Chevy parts makers failing the attemt to make Ford parts. Try Ford Y, the Mummert site. He has the parts that will work.

from what ive seen on his site he only has a plain aluminum valley pan not finned..which i dont mind i was just confused on these finned ones with no oil tubes!

Mummert's valley pans can come with the oil fill tube if so ordered, and if desired the rear vent for PCV.

Quite a few years ago I ordered a finned cover like being discussed. A machine shop installed the fill tube, but they mislocated the hole and angle slightly, so the thermostat housing had to be ground for clearance on one mounting ear. A bigger problem was that the cast aluminum piece had a warp that wouldnt straigten fully with the pan installed. A gob of rtv didnt prevent leaks. It was such a PITA that I threw it away.

thanks for the replys ,i found a guy on the yblocksforever forum that welds aluminum oil tubes into them pretty slick looking....

What's wrong with nice painted/ detailed stock valley pan...sure as hell won't warp and if it does a tap or two with a hammer and dolly should solve fitment issues.

I have a chrome valley cover fitted to one of my engines. Looks good but is a pain to keep clean. I would think a finned cover would be even worse.

Most of the steel ones are warped. I drill and tap the block on the four corners for 12-24 screws. The two stock bolts plus the four extras keep it cleaner. A perfectly clean Y block looks unused to me. Mine is dirty, and DRIVEN!

My sentiments entirely Don. How many shows do you go to with absolutely pristine engine bays and when you get talking to the owner they're too scared to drive it cause it might get dirty. I am sure we have all been conned by the immaculate show engine that doesn't even have a crank or pistons inside it.

Theres nothing wrong with a stock one, I'm just a sucker for finned stuff valve covers, coil cover's,ect....I want to run finned valve covers,and finned valley pan and while i was searching came across the no oil tube valley pan, and was confused..I thought to my self if your running a finned valley pan most likely you will want to run finned valve covers and doubt you would want to cut a oil fill into the valve covers(even tho ive seen it done on some sbc ones) and was wondering how they expect you to add oil!!! To new guys to y-blocks might be disappointed if they bought one not knowing.....
