Must have been the same guy who dropped and broke the distributor cap for my 1930 Cord. Not really easy to find a replacement! The guy turned out to be a goof friend of about 40 years. Still, I never forgot the feeling of when that cap hit the concrete.

Thanks! It is the 3/8" threads that is strange. Is it for a truck maybe?

That Cord Distributor cap sounds like a harder part to replace than the knob.

I HAD a wonderful collection of 78 rpm Big band Jazz, swing, and early Honky Tonk records. In there was a Complete collectoin of Glenn Miller amongst others. Thank you for your "helping hand" while moving, previous girlfriend! They all turned to dust.

I think trucks got a plain cap...I would start looking in the Cadillac parts bin! They used a V-8 emblem that looked much like Ford's and some of their shifters look big. Maybe...

There are a ton of 3/8" black knobs out there. Lots of trucks and industrial things used them (think forklift).

Also Harley jockey shift knobs. Search vintage black shift knob on Ebay, or type this into Google...

USA MADE BAKELITE HAND TANK SHIFT KNOB 2"

This guy also makes some neat shift knobs, available with a 3/8" thread...

I have the Victory design in dark brown in my Hot Rod...
