I was just woundering how many of you would like to know where you are in the shoebox line of fords? I would like to catalog all shoebox fords from 1949 thru 1951.If you would like list your cars born on date and the plant is was made.Mine was built in Atlanta on Oct.25,1950 and is a bussiness coupe.

How do you go about determining a born on date and factory? I have a '51 Deluxe sedan and would like to know. By the way, your coupe and I were born on the same day.

The cowl code has the plant & date in it. It's stamped in the cowl on the right side above the seam on my 49 & in the center on a 50, but I'm not sure about a 51.

JDL,
This is really alot of fun.As you know all the records for the shoeboxes are lost do to fire or what have you.Your 51 being built nov. 26 1950 must be one of the first and mine being a 50 was one month earlier. That means we are getting close to actually find out when the 50 stop production and the 51 started. I am working an auction for the next 10 days if you could help answer theses guys I sure would appericate it . I also have the same question on shoebox.
thanks in advance,
spike

Here is my '51 Club Coupe. I have owned this car for 32 years. When I bought it, it had only 28,000 miles on the clock. One repaint and some interior work plus all of the normal stuff like carb rebuilds, fuel pumps, tune-ups is all that has been done. V8 od. Although I have other cars, it is still my "best girl. Without going out to the garage to verify the build date, I am pretty sure it is sometime in January of 1951.

if you want to send me your cowl code I can decipher it for you and any others that are interested. either post your code or pm me the cowl code.
some of the later 51 models have a tag instead of a stamped firewall.

My 49 business coupe, mild custom, still a flathead with o/d. Don't know when it was built, but a lot of fun to drive.

We have 2 in our garage, both Hawaiian Bronze Custom Deluxe Tudors. One was built in Dearborn on Aug 4 and the other was built in Norfolk on Aug 31.
