Default Optima battery not Optimal for 1933 ford

My Optima Battery is 1/4 too tall!!! Even though I was told it would fit?
Does anyone know how the electrods are constructed?

You could lay it on its side, check with Optima. Pete

Some of us have been laying them on their side. No problems. Usual reason is to get dual exhaust to fit through there.
In my case, I just fabbed a new battery support, copying the original, but making it so the battery hangs a little lower. I've had it that way for a few years.
(This comment also applies to a Group 1 Bat in my 34. It is a tad too tall for the stock support - and I made a new support that hangs lower.)

Frank, the more recent optima batteries are a little higher than the first type built by about 3/16". What is an "electrod" you mentioned. Do you mean the lead battery terminals. As some one mentioned on your other post DONT cut the terminals or mess with them in any way. Why did you start another post ?? Read my answer on the other post in reference to lowering the under floor battery carrier. Regards, Kevin.

Is the battery covered by the wood floor? Is this where interference is encountered? Perhaps you could rout out the bottom of that floor board? Sorry that I don't have first hand experience with this situation.

Pete, It is not a thick wood floor board. It is a five ply type cover panel that fits into a stepped opening in the metal floor pan. No room to rout it out. Frank has been shown some good options in previous posts. Regards, Kevin.

Have several 6 volt Optimas and I lay them on their sides under seat and cover up the opening in floorboard for battery. 12 volts can be laid over also, I worried about this at first but after several years and several cars I have had no problems.

My Optima fits fine in my '33. I actually built a pine frame for it to sit in the original battery tray. They may have changed the design as mentioned earlier.
