‘46 Merc dash molding installation
What’s the trick to installing windshield garnish moldings on the inside of the windshield and above the dash? I have the dash in and new glass with a new Carpenter windshield gasket in place. But when I install the moldings, starting at the center (at the wiper knob) and install screws along the dash toward the A pillar, the molding at the top of the pillar has a 1-2” gap to the pillar and I can’t pull the moldings “in”’to fit at the top. So things are way off at the top center where the mirror attaches. Im thinking I’ll start over and just install screws at the top center (at mirror) and bottom center (wiper knob), and then swing the molding in to the A pillar. Then all the holes should line up. Worried that’ll scratch dash paint though. The moldings are the originals to the car, so I was expecting this to be easy!
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks |
