Hi Barners, I'm working on a 1934 pickup speedometer I would like to replace the speedometer face, how do I get the needle off without destroying it ? Would appreciate any help.

I think you will find they push on and pull off. It you are lucky a couple of back and forth twists at the needle's pivot point while slowing pulling upward should remove it. If it is stubborn don't get aggressive with it. What I usually do is place a couple of sheets of thin harden cardboard between the needle and the face and use a screwdriver as a pry working around the needle pivot. That should do it.

Thank you Tom, it worked. Bad part is the faceplate from Mac's won't fit even though it is in their catalog as fitting 33-34 pickup & 32 car. This makes three parts this week marked wrong on their website and catalog.
Sorry I just get frustrated sometimes.

You can get them to fit by cutting & grinding and bending a little here and there and then throwing the broken crap in the the trash can where it fit real nice. Too much junk from the vendors who swear that chinese crap is the only way to go.

We'll go all right, to the next vendor that has the part that fits and it's usually a restored original part or if your lucky, NOS without spending a fortune.

Oh Well! Ranted long enough it's Friday and time for a brew.
