need to get a copy of the service letter, that is the easiest way to learn how to do the adj,. I use a mixture of synthetic grease and sythetic gear lube-mix to the consistancy of mustard, also when I rebuild a box use two grease seals on the shaft, if you are only adjusting and refilling you might consider slipping an extra seal on the sector shaft

I hope this helps. I use STP or the heaviest gear oil I can find. Original owners manual calls Extreme Pressure gear Oil filled to level of plug. SAE 90 wt gear oil for all seasons and SAE 140 for summer.

the original seals were leather...mine still had the original sector shaft seal with Ford script.. So I don't imagine the original lube was too thin.

I have heard you can just use moly grease like the later recirculating ball boxes. I figure a little leaking oil is normal for these old cars. I know why my dad had drip pans everywhere now.
