I'm getting ready to leave for New Orleans(300 miles east). There will be scattered flurries of marti gras beads and oppressively cold 70F days and 60F nights this weekend.

I guess a "historic blizzard" is all relative to where you live. I grew up at Lake Tahoe in California. Waking up to find it had snowed 3 or 4 feet during the night would be a non-event, nothing out of the ordinary....

Most people are used to 6 inch storms around here ( So. N.E. ) and panic at the hint of snow. It doesn't help with the news stations hyping up the storm. As I always say..... Must be a slow day for news. I remember storms in the 60's and early 70's where a foot was normal and you adjusted. Now the world is all hype and drama. And as for you people in Fla and other southern areas, I'd rather deal with snow than your humidity and hurricanes. heh heh heh!!

Wow! It's snowing in the North East in February. If you listen to the media you'd think the world was ending. Yes the coastal areas could have some problems with tidal surges and high wind. People need to use some common sense. Stay off the roads and seek higher ground if neccessary. Let this thing pass.

Probably have around 8 inches and the brunt of the storm still to come. Wind is picking up, 45 tp 50 MPH gusts, you can hear the tree limbs cracking and breaking already. Here the snow is very wet and heavy, a real pain to shovel or push. Forecast is for another 12 to 14 hours of heavy snow, we are getting about 3 inches an hour right now. Going to run out of places to put it soon. Oh well, another day in beautiful New England, I wouldn't trade it for Florida.....no way!....LouB.

Darn tootin'! Here are pictures and videos of today's trip.
Today I found time to do my monthly run up the canyon to Wallsburg to pick up dad who bought Old Henry in 1959 and take him to Heber City for lunch. I do it rain or shine, snow, sleet, or hail. Also got to try out my new fog lamps to see if the 55 watt halogen bulbs would heat the lens enough to keep the snow and ice from covering them. Looks like they worked just great.

After we got back to Dad's.

Dad at 87 years old and still going strong.

Dad's double wide prefab house in Wallsburg. Heats it with wood burning stove all winter.

Here's a one minute video of some of the trip if you're interested:

Good going Henry! I knew you would be out in the snow with that old Ford!! Your Dad looks happy to see Old Henry. Those guys in Florida, and other warm places, just don't understand all the fun we have in these colder areas during the winter .

JM 34 Sedan ............
JOHN, I spent years, driving in the snow and ice, up in the hills of West Virginia.
You just don't know how happy it makes me, to know that it can't happen in Florida !
Come on down !

Mike, I'll be down later this month and again in March for Vic's gathering. I'm looking forward to having some fun in the sun. Come on down and join us in March for a couple days and bring one of those beautiful early Ford V8's that you own .

Yea it's fun. Yesterday had to bring wife to Portland Me. 50 mile away for rehab on a brocken bone in here hand, got almost there came on to a 19 car pile up, stuck in traffic for 2 hours, called the rehab place, they said they were closing early so go home. That was a 4 hours fun ride, I'm glad I had my new 4 wheel drive Ranger pickup. 7:00 am now, snowing to
beat he-- and 50mph winds, got to love, I'm haveing so much fun, snow 2 feet up on my front door, have to wait untill spring to get out, hope we don't loose power, if so got a 5000 watt gen in garage all wired to the house, it's supposed to be over with late this afternoon. OH, did I tell you how much fun I'm haveing. Wish you were here, I cain't even make a snow man, the snow is so fluffy the wind blows it away faster than I can build it. HAVING FUN Walt
