Default Barn Find X4

Well i recently made a deal on the contents of a falling down Barn. it had 4 1940 Ford Sedans, 2 Tudors and 2 Fordors. My wife and I spent 12 hours on Saturday removing wood and thorn bushes so we could get these out, along with their parts. 3 of these were mostly stripped and the parts were stored in two different buildings. Once we got them all out it was time to start loading. It has taken two truck and trailer loads and two days to get the parts and one car home so far. I hired a car hauling company to get the other three home since it is 95 miles from me and I work and have teenagers who are into sports. (my time is limited) Here are some pics and I will post more later along with my intentions for the cars.

I would have second thoughts about my good fortune if it had been me who found that treasure trove. I'd be stuck with no place to keep it all. Hopefully you have some realestate on which to keep it.

A good haul of stuff. 40 bits are good for lots of cars other than 40's.

Luckily I have 5 acres of land and a couple out buildings. I don't plan to keep all of it, and I'll be listing parts soon

Well you can put a list together and we can always check on shipping. I have a ton of parts to get rid of, actually a little overwhelming and I'm trying to come up with a plan of attack, I'm leaning towards selling a couple as complete as possible. Suggestions?

Neat haul.
A few years ago I came into something similar, though not on that scale. It was a single tudor with all the parts, but except for the restored rolling chassis everything else was in boxes. I inventoried every last piece, had a six page spreadsheet broken out into NOS/restored/good used. Took a bunch of pictures. Posted ads for a few months for the package as a whole, even had a title. Sent out lots of emails with spreadsheet and pics attached but got bupkus for serious interest. Finally ended up selling it off a piece at a time. Doubled the money I was asking for the total package, but had to work more to get it. I thought for sure a knowledgeable enthusiast would see all the info and snap it up..........didn't work that way. Today, or your geographical area, may be different, but don't be surprised if there are no takers for a large bundle deal.

I commend you for taking on such a large task, and to have a wife that is willing to help you is priceless. Good luck getting all of that stuff organized for sale. That one flathead engine looked to be in great shape. Good job to you and your wife.

Thanks guys for the kind compliments to my wife. She is a trooper for sure! I'm thinking the Tudor that has no paint might sell very fast as it has very small amount of rot and hardly any dents either. I might be able to get half my money back on just that one alone. it will definitely be a long road to get rid of these parts.
as far as the engines go, they were all stored in another building and standing on boards with the water pumps facing up. I have yet to try and turn one over.

Great find and good for you for taking it on. Would have been a shame for all that to go to the scrap yard.
Hopefully the cars have paperwork for them as that will make then more attractive to sell as a whole.
Lots of sites to list the parts and engines. If you price things realisticly I believe that you will be rewarded for all you and your sainted wife's hard work.
We will be watching the "Swap meet" section for your listings.
Torchie.

I bought parts from funrunr when he parted a 39 four door. He was GREAT to deal with, and went out of his way to help me. If any of you fourty folks need parts, I would PM him, and get to the head of the list!

Thanks guys for the kind words, I truly cherish the friends I have made here on the barn even though I haven't met many of you guys, I still consider you friends.

PS. Yes Torchie, thankfully I did receive 4 titles. Now I just have to find the vins on the frames

Well I did get all the cars home and have decided I'm going to try and keep the Tudor that is shown without an engine as this is the best one body wise.
I will try to sell the others in the current condition they are in and will add or remove parts depending on buyer interest. The Fordor is obviously the most complete but has issues like pinholes on top of cowl and other hidden areas only seen in person. I will try to hold off as long as possible before parting but I do have a fair amount of time and money invested that I need to recoupe. With that being said, I'm gonna start listing these along with parts.
