I just had the honor of doing the Newport hill climb last Wed. My friends Ron and Lanny and I spent the week noodling around western Indiana in our jeeps.


We weren't going for speed as much as "completion". Our jeeps (a '43 Willys, a '45 Willys, and a '50 Willys) aren't speedsters... I was able to pull 2nd gear with the trailer. An L head triumph.

Those would be a Big Hit at the Hillclimb.
You might get a Beer at the Legion Hall also.

Thanks - the actual event sounds like a lot of fun. I hear some vehicles are really fast. That hill is steeper than it looks in the photo.

Those would run in the discontinued makes ( Willys) and work really well with the Newport crowd. Come on down and tell them "Bubba" sent you. I will buy the beer and beans friday afternoon at the legion???

i`m planning on being there sat. and sun. to compete,but . . . after looking at that hill i`m wondering if my old truck will even make it to the top. this could be embarrassing. bubba, where are you guys going to eat on sat. night?

I havent decided on sat night yet , i plan on going back home after dinner friday evening and may not come back until sun in the car show to watch the comp sunday...
