Default Water temp. Observation?

Once you shut the engine down after driving, can the water temp. go up? Just went for a drive tonight, low 70's F. and my electric fan didn't come on while driving but temp. never got higher than 180°. Parked, shut it off for maybe a minute, turned on ignition key and electric fan came on and temp. gauge showed a little over 185°.

Yes, water temp typically increases after shutting engine down. Sounds normal to me.

Perfectly normal. The water is not moving and is absorbing the heat from the block.

Yes normal as said by all. Remember the engine is hotter than the coolant going thru it so if the coolant flow stops the engine is no longer being cooled and warms up. If this didn't happen the cooling systems that we all have wouldn't work.

That's normal, in the summer I always open the hood when
stopping. That cuts down on the heat build up so it cools
better when your ready to continue. G.M.
